I currently have a e6550 dual core 2.33. I was planning on upgrading it to a q9550 2.83 GHz for $280 or a q9650 3.0 GHz for $340.. Which one between the two for the CPU

then for the GPU I have a 8800 GTS 320MB would it be worth it to upgrade this or just keep what I have and just upgrade the CPU
I was considering GTX280 for $300 worth it for just FSX or just save my money???

THE only game I play is FSX on my computer and other usual task such as word and internet.

I dont mind spending a lot of money but want to get the most bang for my buck. I dont want and SLI or Crossfire since that only adds an additional %30 performance for twice the price.

The Q9650 the GPU? well the GTX 280 is a great GPU but like me I would wait, the GPU's are really jumping up at the moment,I would say the GTX 280 will come down in a wile,If the Q9650 comes down i doubt it would be much at all.

btw you buying from Newegg.com right?

Yeah Im most likely getting it from Newegg unless Fry's the same price because theres one by my house so that way I wont have to wait for it to come in the mail.

I was looking at some FSX benchmarks and it marked the 9800 GTX as the highest FPS so I think im going with that card instead. Im still not sure to get the q9650 or the q9550 for $60 price difference for .17 GHZ difference. 2.83Ghz vs. 3.0 Ghz... I will do some mild over clocking about %10

FSX is CPU intensive and does not require the greatest GPU. I have a q6600@3.3 with an 8800gt and my bro has a q6600@3.6 but uses a 4870x2 ... not much difference with the FPS. FSX is also very 'tweakable' so you may want to play in the config files to optimize performance. Get the add-ons for FSX, they really add to the 'experience' :)
