I recently got a computer upgrade. it is used and i dont think this should matter, but it is considered a workstation. i have noticed that my cpu and gpu are giving me trouble when it comes to playing games. in my nvidia control panel and game menus, everything has been optimized manually by me. (refresh rate, fps cap, resolution, and other factors)
for example, i run a game like no man's sky or other resource hog games on maxed settings, and i run the exact same fps as if it were on low settings, and my cpu and gpu are only being used to about 20%. i dont like this because i know it has more potential and i can't reach 240 fps, which is my max refresh rate.
specs:
GPU- NVIDIA Titan X (pascal) Newest nvidia drivers
CPU- Intel(r) Xeon(r) e5-2640 v4 @2.4ghz 10 core with maximum turbo
CPU2- Intel(r) Xeon(r) e5-2640 v4 @2.4ghz 10 core with maximum turbo
PSU- (i do not know the manufacturer but i know its over 1000 watts)
RAM- DDR4 256 GB
Motherboard- supermicro X10DAi dual socket
Monitor- 240Hz samsung gaming monitor
I know the hardware is old, but i doubt thats the issue as i frequently update and inspect my computer.
Now that i think about it, my cpus have a lot of cores. its probably just the games optimization on their side. they probably dont support multithreading because on some games, it works well. i did some research and found out that the games that support 4+ cpu cores that i play allow me to run higher fps and use more resources. (with testing) I may just need to wait until my games start following along with modern advancements in computing.
If anyone thinks otherwise, please reply because i would still like an fps boost on other games.
