I just installed a new graphics card. And The witcher 3. I'm running the settings on ultra. And while playing I'm keeping an eye on my temperature. On Average I haven't really seen the GPU spike past 75C and I'm looking at the CPU core temp. I stay at 76C but it rises between 76C-83C is this normal

I placed in pic of temp stats.[/img]

I have an i5-3570k CPU @ 3.40Ghz
GTX 970

Right, most gpu's can go over 90 degrees (especially Nvidia's cards), if AMD cards go above 70 they will probably blow up, lol. No AMD cards cannot go up to high temperatures. Also whilst gaming this is normal, especially if you're running the game on ultra. Gaming on high settings or just any gaming uses a lot of the gpu. So you're fine there as long as your gpu doesn't go above 90 I would say (if you have a Nvidia card).

Now your cpu, this is a different story. If your cpu goes over 70 degrees it is overheating. This applies for AMD cpus and Intel. So, if your cpu is at 70+ your damaging it.

By looking at your screenshot I can tell that your cpu is not overheating @ 61 degrees and neither is your gpu. The GTX 970 should be able to...

Overall, don't worry. The Witcher 3 is a graphics intensive game, and it will cause your components to warm up a little. Just make sure your fans are all working correctly, and if you want cooler temperatures buy a new cpu cooler or just turn the fan speeds up a bit.

Hope this helps :)

That is incorrect, if his cpu goes over 70 degrees it's overheating and he will damage it. 100 degrees is what most graphics cards will start to overheat at. Most cpu's overheat at around 75+ degrees.

If that's as high as it goes I would not worry. The thermal margin should be about 80 degrees on the CPU, so you're not even close. GPU temps for a 970 look good under load. The Witcher 3 uses 98-99 percent of every GPU I've seen tested. Doggone right it's gonna warm up.

You are incorrect on this part it will lower it's speed to reduce temps not be damaged

Ok yes, the gpu can go over 80 degrees and it won't be damaged or have an overheating problems but the cpu is not suppost to go over 70 degrees. It's safer if you keep the cpu at below 60 degrees all the time, this way you won't experience overheating or have any problems. And yes cores are part of the cpu.

If you cpu is always hot/overheating whilst gaming try to buy a better cooler:
Watercooling - Corsair H100i or H80i
Air cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Hope this helps!
