should i get a: AMD fx 8350 with a Asus M5A99X EVO(480 SGD)

or a: AMD fx 6300 with a Asus SaberTooth 990FX R2.0(455 SGD)

this will be part of my future system which is mainly for gaming

The evo is a older board and I would go with the 8350 because after awhile you want to upgrade the 6300 so the sabertooth is the better board its newer and still around at most etailers. Which means its more up to date bios ect ect.

@johnnyb105 you just contradicted yourself twice in the same sentence. so whats your conclusion? the 8350 with EVO or the 6300 with the sabertooth?

The first option is better but there are some things to keep in mind :

1. For gaming the GPU is more important, that is the FX 6300 with a 7950 would perform better for gaming than the 8350 with an 7870.

2. Also if you overclock then the 8320 is as good as the 8350 and with the quality of motherboard you should definitely overclock. The 8320 is same as the 8350 just clocked a bit lower which can be manually upped easily

well my choice would be the EVO, only thing it lacks is pcie 3.0 which is not needed unless you're running SLI/CFX [and even then minimal benefit]
