I just purchased an i7 8700k and an Asus Prime Z370-A MB along with CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (Dual channel 8gb) RAM and I was just having some concerns about the clockspeeds between the two as the RAM is clocked at DDR4-3000 and according to Intel the 8700k is only compatible with DDR4-2666 up to 64gb. Is this accurate? Does the RAM have to be that frequency to be compatabile with the CPU? I'm a noob to PC building so I was a little concerned.

2666 MHz is the officially rated speed. It doesn't mean it can't go higher, it just means that anything higher is technically an overclock. 3000 MHz should be fine, but if you want to be sure just get a kit that's on your motherboard's supported memory list. https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Motherboards/PRIME-Z370-A/HelpDesk_QVL/
