Cpu and ram question

How much increase would i see in performance when switching from AMD Phenom II X4 940 3ghz to i5-2500K Processor?
Also, i do a lot of hd video editing, would i see any difference in performance between 8gb and 16gb of 1600 mhz ram?

Simple answer, ALOT and YES.

It would be noticeable but would not be worth $375 minimum imo, maybe more if you don't have the right ram.

You can see the video creation difference isnt that much. 8 to 16gb of ram, also don't think you would see that much difference.

Yeah you can't "switch" from AMD Phenom II X4 940 3ghz to i5-2500K, we're talking an entire new system here.

I have a Gigabyte ddr2 mobo. I am going to buy a new motherboard and 8gb of ram, because i only have 2gb of ddr2 887 mhz ram. I believe this is the reason why cyberlink and editing hd is so slow. So you see, i will buy a new motherboard the question is if paying around 230 dollars extra is worth it for the i5 2005k.

Personaly i dont think it is worth it, just make sure you buy an AM3+ mobo so you can upgrade to BD when the time comes.
