Hello,

I am trying to play a game and my computer specs meet all the requirements but the CPU is lacking. I was just wondering what you all thought my best option would be on upgrading my computer. Should I upgrade my CPU which is Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz which uses a lga775 socket or would it cost about the same to upgrade motherboard. Wasn't looking to spend a lot cause computer plays most games friend just wants to play Overwatch. The quad 9650 is around 60$. Quad 9400 I can get for around 30$ and that would be enough I think?

More specs
Video: GeForce GTX 460 SE
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz
Operating System: Windows 10 Education 64-bit
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 8126MB RAM

An upgrade to a good quad core would help, you will not be able to upgrade the CPU, RAM and Motherboard for anywhere close to the same price as just a CPU. I would go with the 9650 if your motherboard supports it. Make sure you do a BIOS update before swapping.

Thanks guys, ended up getting a 9550 for 25$. So for the BIOS update just look up 9550 BIOS and install that before swap?

Just says model TP406
chipset: X38
Southbridge: 82801IR(ICH9R)

Yeah clean off old paste and put new paste right?
