I have had this PC for years and it has not been giving me any problems as large as this. This is not a new build.
I had recently obtained 2 sticks of 4 GB of more RAM for my PC. I had opened up my PC and had to remove my GPU to put the new sticks of ram in. After I had hooked everything back up my PC keep going in a restart loop. So I turned it off and unplugged everything. Then only took out the new RAM I had gotten. Set everything back and my PC said that it had been having trouble booting. So I hit continue signed into my account. Only to be greeted by my CPU giving me temperatures of 95 Degree C and up. My PC turns on and does not limit me to doing anything. Although I am not going to be keeping it on until a solution can be solved. I had checked on the BIOS menu to see if my temp really was that high and it showed 94.5 degrees.
This problem had never happened before until I had attempted to input the new RAM. I do not have a CPU cooler I only have the stock CPU fan that had came with the CPU. I would really appreciate the help.

You should be fine once you get your new cooler on.

Use only 90% isopropyl alcohol as a cleaner for the CPU. You'll have to clean your h7 as well as it comes preinstalled with paste. Or you could just use what it comes with and return the paste you bought. No doubt the Arctic silver is probably Superior to what comes on the cooler.
Best bet is you Knocked one of the 4 pins loose when messing around inside, or knocked the wire into the fan and stopped it. I'd highly doubt you'll be able to fox this without either new paste one the old stock cooler or a new cooler. That paste will definitely be dry at this point and unlikely to work well now that it's been disturbed

I actually made sure the pins were all locked in place on the processor. they all seemed to be locked in place fine. Would you say the best fix for me would be to apply new thermal paste to the processor? If so would that drop the temperature back down to its idling temp of around 45 degrees C? Before I had attempted to change the RAM my PC had been acting fine with 0 problems. Do you think this problem could have happened from me accidentally moving the CPU and messing with the thermal paste on the CPU? Thank you for responding!

Nudge the cooler, if it wiggles, you need to remount it.
Verify that all 4 pushpins are through the motherboard and locked.
Yes, you will need to clean off the old paste and apply new.
Normal idle temps should be 10-15c. over ambient. 45c. sounds a bit high.
Throttle and shutdown temperature is around 100c.
I assume the fan is spinning.
It should be running at max if your temperature is 90c. That will be noisy.

If you overclock your K, I would buy a better cooler.
$35 buys you a very good scythe kotetsu.

You won't be able to simply remount a cooler on a processor from 2013. That paste will more resemble a rock. I'd suggest getting a couple cooler. If on a budget something like a evo212 if not post a budget. I'd only even consider repasting a stock cooler if I had the paste on hand. Especially on a k series processor

I was probably wrong about the idle temperature of 45 degrees. I had managed to nudge the fan and the fan had been locked into place. The CPU fan is spinning and is working fine. Although I am pretty sure the fan is running faster than usual. Makes sense to keep the temperature up. Would not using the stock CPU fan and purchasing a better CPU cooler lower my temp? Because before any of this had happened my computer had not been getting temperatures this high from daily gaming.

So I should just purchase a new cooler for my CPU and apply thermal paste to the new CPU? And on a side note if I just re thermal pasted my stock cooler would that be the problem for the high temp? As in if I just reapplied the paste the temp would drop? Or not really how it works?

The stock cooler is loud and barely does the job especially on a k series CPU. New paste will take it back to where it was before. Something like a Evo 212 should substantially lower temps and noise and allow some overclocking if you wanted to down the line. Something like a cryorig h7 would allow for more.

So theoretically if I applied a new batch of thermal paste to my CPU with the same stock cooler my CPU temp would go back to the lower temperature it was at?

Thank you Supahos I appreciate the help. I have just ordered the cryorig h7 and Arctic Silver Thermal Paste. I will clean off the old thermal past on the processor. Then set up my new CPU cooler. If after I set up everything and my temperatures are still much hotter than normal I will officially be out of ideas.
