CPU Bottleneck (AMD, Intel and all the others)

Ok guys. I can't find any definitive answers to this question.

I'm trying to spec out a build surrounding a GTX 780, (because for various reasons, I'm getting one). I'm having issues finding limitations for optimized vs non-optimized configurations with this graphics cards. All the bench marks use some holier-than-thou $600 Master Processor that shoots light particles and poops unicorn rainbow sparkles.

I know what CPU bottlenecking looks like. The GPU has to wind up then has to wind down in order to wait for the CPU cycles. I'm trying to find hard numbers on a variety of configurations, but I can't seem to find much on the GTX 780 (non-ti) on 3D Mark.

I've reviewed a few benchmarks of an Athlon 860k doing fairly well for itself in Fire Strike. I found one score that was about 8500 points in 3D Mark, but that's just one specific result.

What I want to know is more detailed than any "opinion". I need numbers, graphs, and data to represent why I should not choose the Athlon 860k/Kaveri 7850k over say, an i3-4170. So basically, I'd love it if someone recorded the GPU usage over the course of a benchmark if they have an 860k and a meaty graphics card (similar to an R9-390).

for a buget processor like an i3 or amd fx cpu youll want 2560 x 1440 or 4k monitor to tax your graphics card. cause at normal 1080 HD resolution your processors wont be able to keep up with the graphics card. so if you have a "low" resolution monitor your going to want a i5 to keep up with that graphics card, or maybe a 8 core fx cause games are slowly being optimized for it. this is all from my experience with budget processors and higher end stuff so i cant provide numbers.

this might help, quad cores on directx 11 aren't really efficently used. so even though games are demanding a minimum of quad threaded cpu's intel's superior cores beat amds offering of more at a similair price. its not until directx 12 is used that amd stuff is matches the i3 in games... personally id choose the fx 6300 6 core processor cause i think direct 12 is going to take off since the xbox one and windows 10 being free will boost its adoptiong... the quad cores in dx12 are comparable to the i3 so an amd 6 core will likely be faster... their about the same price as intels i3
