I have an i5 10400f and recently upgraded to an RX 6700 XT with the intention of playing games at 1080p 144hz. In rdr2 in busier towns, the frame rate is running between 80 and 110fps most of the time. With CPU usage being 70-90% across most cores and the GPU only being utilised 50-60%. Would this likely be solved with a cpu upgrade?

"solved".....

What problem are you thinking that needs solving?

You're not going to see 144FPS in RDR2 unless you're willing to completely change your PC. Here's why:

According to TechSpot, your CPU is capable of an average of 107FPS in RDR2:

According to Tom's, an R5-7600 would do the trick nicely with an average FPS of just under 193:

However, that's not all of your problem. Your RX 6700 XT isn't capable of even getting close to144FPS at 1080p in RDR2. To get that kind of frame rate, according to Guru3D, you'd be looking at halo-level cards:

Even the RX 6900 XT can't do it so I don't think that upgrading your CPU will change anything.
