CPU Bottleneck In Battlefield 3?

Hello,

I've recently started playing battlefield 3 multiplayer. I run it at 1920x1080 with all low settings with an Amd Athlon x2 250 @3.0 Ghz and an Nvidia GTX 650 1GB DDR5. I
noticed my framerate increased very little when i lowered the resolution to a very low resolution, I've also noticed that my GPU usage is about 50 % when I start experiencing lag and my CPU usage is at 100 %. My question is, if i where to upgrade my CPU(or overclocked it) would i start getting better frames and less lag?

CPU-AMD Athlon x2 250 @3.0 Ghz
GPU-EVGA GeForce GTX 650 1GB DDR5(Not Overclocked)
RAM-7GB DDR3 @1333Mhz
OS-Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Upgrade: Yes
Overclock: Possibly.

Depending on how much you can OC. But since its only a dual core, that is most likely your issue. Honestly an upgrade would help you out the most, if you stay with AMD a Phenom II x4 965 would be good for under $100, if you can find one.

Try lowering or increasing your CPU's clock rate.
If decreasing it to 2GHZ (lower the multiplier to 10) significantly lowers your FPS, then i suggest moving up to a Phenom II X4.

And by the way you do NOT have 7GB RAM.You've got either 6 or 8.

Ok,I'll give that a try.

I'll look into upgrading to a Phenom II X4 or an I5 eventually, thanks for the feedback.
