Hello Guys,

I just acquired a Sapphire R9 280X Toxic

Since I am upgrading from an HD 6670, I am somehow concerned that it might bottleneck with my CPU.

I have a AMD Athlon II X3 460 Socket AM3

Here are my full specs:

CPU - AMD Athlon II X3 460 3.4GHz Socket AM3 95W
MOBO – Foxconn A78AX 3.0
GPU – Sapphire R9 280X Toxic
HDD - TOSHIBA PH3300U-1I72 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s
RAM – 16 Gb Kingston 1333 Mhz CL9
COOLING - AC Arctic F12
POWER - Be quiet! Pure Power CM BQT L8-CM-730W Modular (730 Watt continuous)

Could someone be so kind to shed some light on it?

Will I experience problems?

Thanks

Rich

Hell I just needed a proper reality check :) I knew this was coming my way.

So may you suggest a CPU that can coop with it without strangling it.

I am somehow between the i3 3570 and the i5 4670.
And an FX 8320 or FX 8350.

What do you think?

Thanks

Rich

Cool, so it seems it will be i5 but i3 3570 is less money? I mean there is quite a price diference so are the gains worth it?

As for mobo I think that perhaps a H87 would go along very nice.

Thanks

Rich
