Hello . so my game performance recently is not what was I expecting especially after upgrading from GTX 1050 TO RTX 2060 I doubt that my I5-7400 CPU and my 8gb of ram are causing some bottlenecks . is it true and how can I be sure?

The strange thing is that the pc runs very good on forza horizon 4 and shadow of the tomb raider at very high-ultra settings but struggles at gta v ans fortnite that requires less specs than forza and tomb

Some games are better optimized then others but another thing is that the 7400 is going to struggle with more open world games such as GTA V which is why your seeing lower performance. With Ryzen 3rd gen coming out soon the pricing has come down quite a bit for the first/second Gen Ryzen CPU's so that may be a worthwhile upgrade if you don't mind overclocking. Or if you prefer not to then the i5-9400F & a Asrock B365 motherboard would be a good choice with your 2060 and I would also recommend upgrading your monitor to 1440P as the 2060 would be better with that then 1080P. You should be able to reuse your memory but would be more beneficial to just buy a 2x8gb (2666) kit now as prices are pretty low.

Im gonna get a 2x8 corsair ram really soon. I dont have a problem with 1080P gaming so i will stick with my 1080p monitor. But my question is . Is an i7 7700 or 8700 a good upgrade?

They would both be a good upgrade but both are quite expensive. Both will require a aftermarket cooler as the stock one is garbage and won't cool either very well. The 8700 would be preferable but requires a new motherboard (same socket but 8th gen only works with H310/B360/B365/H370/Z370 & Z390). Honestly, the 9400F would be a better upgrade and would save you like $100+ over the 7700/8700 and actually outperforms the 7700 a little bit due to the two additional cores.

What is the make/model of your motherboard?
That will determine what cpu upgrades are possible.

To see if the cpu is holding you back, try this test:
Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.
Your games tend to depend on the performance of the single master thread more than the performance of the graphics card.

On ram, unless you are multitasking while gaming, 8gb is usually enough.
Look at task manager hard fault page statistics.
A hard fault is when the game needs code that is not in ram and needs to be retrieved from the page file.
This is particularly hurtful if you do not have a ssd for the page file.
If you see anything like 0.5 per second, that indicates that there is a ram shortage and the only real solution is more ram.

I have checked what upgrades are possible . I have an asus prime b250m-a the only possible good upgrade for me is i7 7700. Reagrding this test you talked about i will be doing it today on gta V and will tell whats gonna happen

If you have a cpu limitation, I suspect it will be with the single thread performance of the i5-7400.
The passmark rating of the i5-7400 is 7331 with a single thread rating of 1949.
The i7-7700 rating is 10731/2346.
Actually, your motherboard supports a i7-7700K which you can not overclock.
But the 7700K stock clocks are a bit higher giving a rating of 12035/2583.
It is unclear how much incremental performance you will get with more that 4 threads; it will depend on the game.

Any better cpu upgrade is going to need a different motherboard.

You have a lack of ram that is impacting you.
If your page file is on a hard drive, it might take. .05 seconds to resolve a hard fault. at 2-5 per second, that is the equivalent of 10-25% reduction in cpu performance.

Buy your 2 x 8gb ram kit and see how you do.
That is a relatively cheap upgrade that can be later carried forward to a new cpu/mobo if necessary.

Do you have a SSD for windows?

Hello. So before i upgraded to rtx 2060 i did extensive research about how gaming performance will be after the upgrade it was saying i would get easy 60+fps on ultra settings on almost all modern games . But the truth is after the upgrade the performance is very bad compared to what i saw. Only one game has actually improved but still having the same shit on other games.
Pc specs
Gigabyte Rtx 2060 6GB
Intel i5 7400
1×8 Gb if ram 2133 mhz
750w psu
Is it a possible bottleneck from the cpu or the ram?
