I just recently purchased a GTX 780 (DC2OC) and I also just got a 144hz/1ms screen to get the most out of the FPS it generates for Battlefield 4.
I notice now that I have 2 screens that when I play my GPU usage absolutely maxes at around 70%, while the CPU is necking at 98-100% the entire time.
I'm just trying to get a consistent 100~fps or so even outside, seeing as I paid the money for the card and screen.
How much faster would an i7-4770 be over my current hardware ? Do we know if BF4 utilises hyperthreading? How would a top-of-the-line AMD 8-core perform ? Most of the posts I've found have been dated in terms of their information and I am having trouble finding answers to these questions.
This of course would also mean I would have to change the board being a different socket.
Would a RAM upgrade be in order then? If so, what RAM is good ? I think 8GB of fast ram would suffice. My current RAM (reading off CPUz) says its 666mhz 9/9/9/24 .. I can see currently that 1600mhz RAM is commonplace.
Which leads me to my next question; what board to use ? I understand that should I want to go to an SLI setup in the future, I want to get a board that can do 8x/8x PCI-E or something ?
I found an asus board that looks like it'd do the job, a Z-87-A I believe it was.
Thank you
ps. I'm running Win7 64-bit ultimate OS if that is at all relevant to the necking issue.
