cpu bottlenecks gpu?

i got a gtx 960 4gb and an i7 920 overclocked to 3,0 ghz yet i am getting a lot less frames then i expected.

as a example in league i only get around 100 fps. Does someone knows whether my cpu might bottleneck my gpu?

I'm sure it does in some cases. In others, your GPU bottlenecks your CPU. It depends on what framerates you're aiming for and what graphical settings you choose. Lower your resolution (a lot) and see if framerates improve, that'll tell you if a faster GPU would solve your problem.

Are you running a 120/144hz monitor, and trying to stay above 120/144fps?

I am not quite sure what my monitor is running at i got a philips 226v4 monitor, but a few months back my fps was around 200 and i decided to reinstall and it just sits around the 100 ;/

There will be no bottleneck in 90% of cases unless you're doing something like Arma 3 which is very CPU dependent, your CPU is perfectly fine.

Most monitors only display 60fps, so 100 or 200 would be exactly the same.

allright glad to hear that, do you mabey know how come i have such low fps

got a i7 920 cpu 3.0 ghz
got a gtx 960 4gb gpu
got 10 gb of ram
got a PSU from coolermaster 520 W
