CPU bracket/mount won't stay on

Hello. I was attempting to clean my computer and reapply some thermal paste when I unscrewed the bracket and did what I needed to do. Unfortunately once I was finished reapplying the thermal paste the screws on the bracket would not screw back in. I tried applying some pressure and continually screwing but it just seems the screws are too short now for some reason. I feel like there is a simple solution to this but so far it had been very frustrating. I'm not quite sure what I did incorrectly. Again, it unscrewed fine but trying to screw it back in just isn't working.

did u screw one side on first and then every other side?

Yes. Every corner of where the screw goes wont screw in.

did u push the back bracket in first all the way and then align the screws?

Use an "X" pattern. Which means go from one corner to the other, screwing in only a few turns at a time.

Yeah. The screws just won't go all the way down. They unscrewed perfectly fine.

There is a pattern behind the board, you must place the bracket in the exact place without overlapping any screw behind the cpu socket

I wish I could show you photos but everything is lined up correctly from what I can see. The screws just won't go down to where it needs to be. Literally the only thing I've done differently than other times I've cleaned my computer was take off the bracket.

You were right Hanser. The pattern behind the board came loose after I unscrewed the mount. Sorry for wasting your guys time.
