Hello,
I am going to be purchasing a AMD FX-8120 Zambezi 3.1GHz Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core Desktop Processor, and I was wondering what combination can be suggested to go for it. I am not looking to be gaming on this and need a cheap set up . I already have a dvd drive, ram, and a box. I would be looking for a low cost motherboard (newegg.ca), a low quality graphics card that has hdmi output(if a good price one can play skyrim on medium/low quality i will like that) and a power system.

Well depending on what applications you will be using, the phenoms get better results than the fxs. Also depends on what prices you find

Heres what i suggest:

COOLER MASTER Elite 460 RS-460-PSAR-J3 460W : http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171046
Item #: N82E16817171046
$39.99

ASUS M5A97 AM3+ AMD 970 : http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131767
Item #: N82E16813131767
$94.99

DIAMOND A4870PE5512 Radeon HD 4870 512MB : http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814103193
Item #: N82E16814103193
$69.99

As far as cpu goes, if you arent using calculation specific programs then go with a AMD Phenom II X4 960T and upgrade the graphics to a 6850 and add a better cpu cooler...

Yes in that case, it would be, you would have an overall better experience.
i5-2500k is a great processor and overclocks easily, if not an i3-2100 is good as well.

But if you don't game that much then the 6850 is maybe a bit overkill, but it will play your games very well.

If you want close this thread and create a new one, and post your needs and budget, and other will be able to help you out and pinpoint a system that will satisfy your needs. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261222-31-build-advice
