CPU causing boot up problem

Hello everyone,

I recently started my first PC build, and just ran into some issues right when I thought I was done.

After properly setting up my MOBO, Graphics Card, HDD's, etc, I tried booting it up for the first time. When I did so, my PC started up but turned off again after a second. A couple seconds later, it started up (on it's own this time), fans turning and all, but turned off again. That cycle repeated itself until I cut the power supply.

Of course, I then opened up the case and double-checked all connections, all of which seem fine. I tried rebooting the PC with the case open this time, and noticed the CPU cooling fan moves just a tab bit for a split second the moment I press the "On" switch, but otherwise stays immobile.

I tried taking all unnecessary peripherals off the PSU, connecting the heatsink to different case fan ports on the mobo, and make sure no cables obstruct the fan, but nothing yields different results.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Here are my specs:
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H Motherboard
Intel i7-3770
Corsair TX750M
GeForce GTX 760
128GB mSata SSD
WD 500GB HDD

Hey alexoiu,

I'm using a Corsair TX750M as indicated above, more than enough to power up my build.

I'm actually going to try doing that tomorrow morning ASAP, will post results as soon as I do.

Actually nevermind. I'm too afraid to make certain modifications on my own in the current state, so a friend of mine who's an expert on the matter will come help over the weekend.

Thanks anyway!

All right, apparently the problem was due to a couple pins on the mobo's cpu socket somehow getting bent and causing tiny short circuiting.

Thankfully that friend of mine used some tool that I won't even try to begin to understand to put them back in place and saved me from having to get it repaired or changed. In fact, I'm using said PC to post this, so all good!

Once again, thanks anyway!
