CPU causing bottleneck?

Hey I was just a bit concerned about my cpu bottle-necking my gpu's performance. I play on 3440X1440 resolution and I put everything on ultra and I notice some minor stutters in certain games.
My general specs are:
GTX 1080Ti
i7-4790 @ 3.6 GHz
16 GB of ram

Generally at 1440p the majority of the load is on the GPU. I have no doubt that your CPU should be able to keep up. It might be that you are hitting the GPU limits. Do you monitor your frame rates and graphics card/CPU usage? If not, I'd suggest downloading MSI Afterburner. You can set it up to give you GPU and CPU usage, frame rates, and it can really help to see where your problem might be.

Depends on the game. While it's still a powerful cpu, the 1080 ti can push a lot more frames that the i7 can process. However considering your resolution and ultra preset, it could also be on the gpu side. Try a monitoring tool to record cpu and gpu usage. That way you will find out the bottleneck.
