CPU causing short circuit?

Hi guys,

My PC fails to turn on (yesterday it all worked out just fine). So I started troubleshooting and removed one part after another until the CPU. So I removed it and the Motherboard went on immediately. So I was wondering if my CPU could cause such a severe shortcut, forcing my Mainboard to shut down immediately.

Any kind of help appreciated

yes a failed CPU can keep a box from booting. Your motherboard with the CPU in it probably had debug LEDs lit up to say something is wrong.

Unfortunately not. The Mainboard does Power on for just one sec. And the debug LEDs just flash, giving no error Code whatsoever

still, i have personally had cpu cause no boot on several pcs in the past.

Alright appreciate your help! But I am still wondering what could cause that massive failure. My CPU wasn't older than 4 years..

stuff dies. nothing is guaranteed. it is probably a combination of factors, how it was used, environment, etc..
