Cpu Compare i7 vs i5

I am going to build a PC for programming and sometimes gaming and i am really bothering what CPU to buy. I am hesitating between the i7-4790k and i5-4690k.


Please help me because i am very desperate.

Obviously the I7 is a faster CPU, but for most things the I5 will do fine, especially if you're going to put Windows on a hard drive. If you put Windows on an SSD and play CPU intensive games, you'll want to get a high end graphics card and possibly the I7. The only game I play is Spider Solitaire and the I5 serves all my purposes just fine. YMMV

I dont have much time to play games because im in the visual studio most of it. That is why i am hesitating so much.

Compiling is faster with a better cpu. What do you work on now and how much of a time issue is it now?
