CPU Compatability for intel Dual Core T2310

Hi all,

Can someone please help me with a CPU upgrade advice. I have a Toshiba Laptop with a Dual core intel T2310. I wanted to upgrade the cpu in the laptop and found this page with a list of compatible CPUs.

Can i use a cpu with higher FSB to replace this one, like for example using a T7800 or T7700?

It isn't advised to upgrade a laptop CPU.

Your laptop motherboard may not necessarily support upgrades, and changes in power consumption etc may cause issues when you use a higher power processor.

Laptops are built to cool the parts that they shipped with, and putting in a better CPU will produce more heat, and may make the laptop overheat.

Hi thanks for your quick response, Looking at the power consumption at 35W for all these CPUs i guess there won't be a huge difference of the heat produced. I was rather more concerned if the mainboard could drive the new CPU at its best FSB of 800 and make the upgrade worth it.

Yes on can buy t7800 or T770 easily at eBay there are dozens of people selling these CPUs, price ranging from 1 euro auction to a 40 euro buy it now.

You really need to get the specs for the motherboard to see whether any other cpu will fit and work.

Do you know the model number of the laptop? That would help.

Despite saying it is a bad idea, i had looked at upgrading my parents laptop CPU too, about a year ago
