I've purchased Aorus Z370 Gaming 5 motherboard and I'm planning to buy Intel i7-8700 for the cpu.

My question is, is there any issue I will encounter on combining this 2?

For like example, it's kinda logical that for Aorus z370 gaming 7 motherboard is for i7 and z370 gaming 5 is for i5 and gaming 3 is for i3.. Also vice verse (x470 motherboards) to AMD's Ryzen series (7,5,3). Although it's clearly stated that z370 motherboards are for 8th generation intel cpu with no specific classification of processor (i7, i5, i3)

I thank you in advance if someone happens to answer (or understand) my concern. Cheers guys!

It may seem logical, but it's incorrect. The only thing you need to be concerned about is the motherboard chipset. Each motherboard has a CPU Support List which details which processors are compatible with the board given a BIOS version.

Aorus Z370 Gaming 7 CPU Support List
Aorus Z370 Gaming 5 CPU Support List
Aorus Z370 Gaming 3 CPU Support List

The CPU Support Lists for each of these boards are identical and all include all three versions of the 8th Gen Intel Core I series processors.

As for your component selection, you shouldn't have any issues.

Wow! That's a lot of savings if I were to buy h370! Man.. I didn't think about that.. I should be fine, though the memory range of z370 is way higher than h370.. Thanks for the info though..

What if the bios is outdated? Do I need to update it or just reflash?
