CPU Compatibility with my motherboard

Will my Dell 0ry007 motherboard be compatible with the Intel Core 2 Duo E8400??

Currently i have the Intel E2160

Just look at the socket type of the cpu and and look at the socket type of your motherboard and if they are both the same sockets then they are compatible. For example I have a gigabyte z97 - sli motherboard with a 1150 socket type, with a 4790k cpu which is a 1150 socket so they are both compatible.

yep but my motherboard does not support core 2 quad and i have LGA 775 socket..... anyway i found that it is compatible on dell forums, i just need to update my bios to the 1.0.18 version.
