CPU Compatible with Motherboard?

Hi guys.

I bought a Asus P5VD2-MX SE motherboard - 775 Socket
CPU Support list on official Asus site for Core 2 Duo goes up to E6700 but stops there.
But another site says that it does support the Core 2 Duo up to the E8500

Why are you wasting money on old hardware though? Are you sure you need to?

game-debate is not reliable with CPU compatibility, but an E8400 is very cheap. If Asus and http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-ASUS/P5VD2-MX_SE.html (they are reliable) don't list it, then it very likely won't work.

Edit: Same issue with the E7400.

Because hardware technology goes really fast and old hardware that still performs really good gets sold for a bargain.
Example got a 9800GT which runs the games i play on good FPS (GTA 4, CSGO) for 10$, the core 2 duo 4$ mobo 10$ and a quite fast WD Blue for 10$ all from the same person who took apart many PC's and sells it for a nickle.

Fast pc even good for gaming for less than 60$, that money doesnt even get u a new latest generation pentium. Core 2 Duo still performs really good imo, runs on multiple pc's in my house. Pefect for my cousins which i'm building 2 simular specced pc's for now, school main purpose, but its always good to have a decent GPU in it incase he wants to play games.
