CPU Compatible With My Motherboard (AMD)

Hi, I'm getting the
Asus M5A78L-M/ USB3 AMD 760G mATX AM3+ Motherboard
I want to know if the
AMD FX-4300 Quad Core AM3+ Processor 3.8GHz
Would be a good fit for this board, i am trying to make a Desktop pc that is better than my one now
(Amd Sempron 140 Cpu WIth Narra5 Mobo)
If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

The 4300 is fine on that board ,it will also run a 6300 absolutely fine.
You would be better though with this if you're looking at an matx board - it will run an 8 core, has better quality vrm's & is normally around the same price.

Thanks, i'm just going for a cheap ish board / cpu for a comp upgrade, 8 core is a bit too much for me.

^ that's fine mate ,just if the gigabyte is available to you for a similar price its just a slightly better board in every way.
In the UK its actually cheaper than the Asus which makes it a better buy.

Fair enough mate,its not a bad board - have one myself paired with a 6300 - it does the job fine.
