CPU Cooler Bad?

I have an AMD A10-5800K with the stock cooler in a mini-atx case. It has worked great for 3 years - it is on 100% of the time. Recently there has been "stutter" in the live video - after troubleshooting, I noticed the CPU temps are close to 90C - even at idle. I replaced the thermal compound, and it still runs at 90C.

The fan still spins...I am thinking the cooler is at fault - maybe the fan not spinning fast enough?

Might be or may be too much or too little thermal compound, might try new thermal again and make sure all is clean first

Most likely the cooler, I suggest upgrading to a CM 212 EVO.

Before you do though, go into the motherboards BIOS and make sure the Vcore isn't above 1.25v.

It wont fit in a mini itx case tho

I checked the thermal compound (I have done this about 200-300 times with different computers), it was the "perfect pea" sized application, evenly spread out. I guess I will have to make the run to Fry's....can't go without TV tonight....LOL.

Just installed the CM212 EVO (I had to remove the HDD bracket and rig it to the bottom of the case and move the RAM), but temps go from 90c to 28c....
