Cpu cooler blocking ram slots, can I still run dual channel?

Currently I'm running 2 x 8gb ddr4 sticks of ram in my gaming rig. The issue I'm having is that my cpu cooler hovers over the closest 2 ram slots (there's 4 in total), so I have to put the sticks next to each other in the two available slots. So now I can't run dual channel correctly, is there a way in the bios to get around this and run them in dual channel in their current spots? Or does not running them in dual channel even make that much of a difference in performance? Buying a new cpu cooler isn't a route I would like to go.

You can't run Dual Channel in that scenario , but the performance loss is very minimal.
