CPU Cooler Change - Strange Behavior

Hi All!

Here's a very strange problem for ya..

First of all my setup:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE
ASROCK N68-VS3 UCC
8 GB DDR3
GAINWARD Geforce GTX 580

As i have been using a stock CPU cooler for a long time i decided to buy a new one.
I bought a Cooler Master Hyper TX3 and mounted it with no problems what so ever.

After booting the PC and starting BF3 i noticed some rather strange fps drops (from 70-80 down to 20)
I Examined the CPU temperature which was lower than the one i got with stock cooler.
Then i noticed that my CPU core speed had dropped to 800 Mhz rather than 3200 Mhz.

I tried alot of stuff to make it work;
Disable AMD Cool 'n Quiet
Unplug case fans and CD-Drive (thought it could be a power issue)

Long story short nothing worked - i changed the CPU cooler back to stock and voila - it is now working as usually.

Can any of you explain what this cooler does so wrong to *** up my PC??? :-D

Ermmmm...I'm actually confused on why It's doing that 😱

I'm also pretty confused!

- It's hard to imagine what could be SO different between thoose two coolers..

EDIT: Only difference i can spot between the two coolers is that the stock one can run at 4000 Rpm and the new Cooler Master at around 2300 Rpm.
