Hello,

I want to change my MB. The CPU cooler I have at this moment has the backplate glued to the MB using a double-sided tape. Is there a place where I can buy that tape? It will probably rip to pieces when I'll take the backplate off. If I go to a hardware store to buy the tape, what characteristics should I look for? I guess it has to be heat-resistant.

Thanks

Solution
Most hardware stores carry double sided foam tape.

However you may be able to get it off intact. Heat it slowly with a hair dryer. Then slowly lift up on the backplate, the adhesive should slowly let go. If it's a double sided "foam" tape, give the adhesive time to release, if you pull hard too quickly the foam will tear. The heat should soften the adhesive.
