Firstly, many thanks to the other people who gave advice regarding my PSU.
This is an excellent forum :)
I recently replaced my stock PSU, with the XFX which is a good improvement!

However, I realise that the CPU cooler is also important.
I have a small crap stock fan, which is fairly noisy and not too efficient.
I'd like something better, as I'm considering an upgrade on the GPU also for good 1080p gaming - probably a GTX760.

Preferably something nice and simple to install that doesn't involve removing the motherboard!

I noticed this one which is cheap only around £12
Zalman CNPS5X Performa CPU Fan, is it any good?

My specs:
AMD A8-5600K Quad Core 3.6Ghz
ASRock FM2A75 Pro4 Motherboard
NVidia Geforce (Zotac) GT640 2GB 128bit DDR3
16GB RAM DDR3
LG Blu Ray Drive
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
XFX 550W Pro PSU
CiT 1017 Part Mesh MIDI Gaming Case

many thanks

The 212 evo is too tall and won't fit.

The TX3 EVO is 13.9cm tall so will be tight but will fit.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Arctic-Cooling-Freezer-Rev-2-Cooler/dp/B002G392ZI this one is smaller than both and performs a bit worse than tx3 evo(about the same really) BUT still MUCH better than the stock and good enough for the 5600k.

I did not need to access under the mobo to install my tx3 evo but that was replacing an fx-8320 heatsink not an A8-5600K.

Looking at images of the A8-5600K heatsink i see no reason why you need to acess underneath the mobo. These coolers use the same locking system as the stock one.

thanks but this one looks fairly expensive and complex, I'm looking for a cheaper one.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005HIRDUA/?tag=pcp0f-21 - It's perfectly good enough for an 5600K.

You don't NEED a 212 evo (that's usually for overclocking) hell you could OC this chip(I know nothing about APU overclocking though)

Just a quick heads up on the TX3 evo, it is a bit big although smaller than the 212 EVO. Can you measure the space from your motherboard to the side of your case?

Also if you'd like a note on it's performance I use the same cooler to cool an FX-8320 at 3.5ghz(stock) and it has performed great for me, The fx-8320 by the way produces a lot more heat than the 5600k and most importantly it is quiet.
You'll need this as well when you change your cooler: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Arctic-Silver-ArctiClean-Material-Purifier/dp/B000BKP306/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1392470144&sr=8-1&keywords=arctic+silver+clean - to remove old thermal paste and clean cpu for new paste.

I'm from the tropics, the ambient temp around here is pretty high, if I overclocked with just a fan, my processor would end up extra crispy

Haha, The OP and I are from the UK where it's perfectly safe to do that...our max outside temps are like 25 rarely and very rarely 30 in the summer. Usually about 17-20degrees inside a typical UK home, I believe(atleast that's what our heating is on IF it's on haha)

It's just under 15cm from the motherboard to the side of the case.

thanks for your advice.

also you don't need to access the underneath of the motherboard?
