As the title suggests, I have been looking at a Noctua NH-D15 for my new build and it just looks pretty bulky and enormous once it's installed; to cool my 7800x3d is it also a little bit overkill just for gaming & some light video editing? I am ultimately asking whether there is a smaller / more lowkey Noctua cooler that won't cover my RAM completely and will still cool my CPU more than enough.

You're all better experts here than myself, thanks in advance.

edit: I have looked into other Noctua coolers but there are a lottt of them and it gets pretty overwhelming.

That case looks so clean and smooth, really beatufil!
While we are talking abt the case, I think the Noctua NH-D15 would in fact be perfect for this CPU and case.
7800x3d is a beast, and it requires good cooling, and if you dont want to get a AIO, you need a big bulky air cooler to keep it cool.
To be honest I think Noctua's famous white-brown look would fit well in this case.

Fractal North
Noctua NH-D15
£110 budget
7800x3d
7800X 3D: Nothing against going a little big on a cooler, but it's not a necessity for this cpu, as the 7800X 3D uses little power compared to other cpus.

NH-D15 + Fractal North: depending on the ram kit chosen, the D15 may not be an option. The case has a max clearance of 170mm. D15 has a height of 165mm, but only supports low profile(about 31mm) ram at that height. So if the kit is 36mm or taller, you won't be able to use the front fan.
The NH-D15S is much more flexible with total height and ram clearance. Other options could be, to name a few:
Scythe Fuma 3
Deepcool AS500(or 500 Plus)
be quiet! Dark Rock 4(non Pro)

Thanks for your input, can you confirm whether the following parts are all compatible with one another? - mainly looking at the RAM height here with the cooler. Thanks

NH-D15S doesn't obstruct ram at all, so it's not an issue. The Vengeance RGB DDR5(44mm) was too tall for the original D15.
Everything else checks out too.

I thought so, just wanted a second opinion. The CPU cooler was the last piece of the puzzle; will be ordering the rest of the parts this week so thanks!
