Question CPU cooler help please ?

I got the stock intel cooler (e97379-001) for my first pc and my motherboard is the main mpg z490 and I’m having trouble getting the white screw type things into the holes. Any suggestions (first time building)

I watched plenty of videos, but I think it may be that my cpu and motherboard are 1200 and my cpu cooler is only 1150/1156, would that cause it not to fit?

They are the same mounting holes so I don't think that is the case. If the videos did not help you I assume no one here will be able to as none of us can get hands on with it. Maybe as a friend or visit a local pc shop if you can't get it figured out.

I ended up ordering a tower type cooler instead bc it will last me longer and matches my set up

And I am sure it will perform better then the stock cooler also
