Hi, this is my first build and I have a question about the CPU cooler I just mounted on my i5-4570.
The cooler is a Cooler Master 412S and I tightened the screws till the very end, but I can still move (actually more like turn) the cooler a bit. Is this normal ? Does it mean I used too much thermal paste ?

Regards
Jürgen

Hi,

in the mean time I found someone who had the same as me and turned the PC on w/o problems.
Since I didn't see any thermal paste coming out at the sides, I did the same and haven't had any problems apart from the sytem reporting a speed below the threshhold at startup.

Cooler Master mounting systems are a bit weird. There is only a little nub/pillar on the top of the base of the cooler that keeps the heatsink from being able to rotate more.

It's Cooler Master's answer to allow multi-directional installation of the product.

Long story short, your cooler will always have a bit of wiggle room.

That CPU fan speed is only at the very beginning. I could see it being between 100 and 200 rpm only very briefly and then it went up to 300 rpm and more. Maybe I should look into altering Fan Expert settings.
