CPU cooler - need recommendations

hey there,

i am looking for a CPU cooler for my intel i7 4790k (lga1150), having a motherboard z97 pro-gamer.
i am not really that great at calculating the space i have for a cpu fan and im always being lost between "is the fan good enough, if so will it fit? isnt it too big?"

so i came here for recommendations about a cpu fan that will be good enough for gaming (good enough to even OC the system or at least above normal)and ofc will fit with no problem sitting in its place.

I have a raidmax seiran case, if I'm not wrong its a mid-tower one

Do you have a fan installed on the side opposite to the motherboard? It will reduce CPU cooler clearance.

If you mean the back of the case on the top above the "ports" and such then yes, it comes with the case as well, forgot to say I'm not looking for a water cooling one.

No. I mean on the left side panel as you look at the front. The fan would be on the opposite side of the case to the motherboard.

There is a large fan on the left side of the case (the panel where you open when you want to change parts) the fan comes with the case and its about 240mm I think maybe even more, its built on the case itself, hope that's what you meant

It's a 180mm LED fan. Anything 155 mm or shorter will do the business. I'd start with a Noctua NH C14 or C14S if you need the clearance to the side. With both fans, it's only 130mm tall. The CRYORIG H7 is a cheaper alternative.
