Question CPU Cooler recommendation for i7-8700 that is less than 145mm high.

I have an i7-8700 CPU on an ASUS H370M-PLUS motherboard and do not do overclocking. The stock fan is not keeping the CPU under 90 when at load especially when starting virtual machines. I have a fractal case where the outer dimension is 7". The inside of the case only has room for a 145mm high cooler but most tower coolers are more than that. Any recommendations for a cooler that will fit would be helpful.

Shame the Noctua NH-L9i isn't in stock per pcper as that would be what I'd get although you could probably find it on eBay.

you never thought of a aio?

i have the same cpu and ive used a aio highest temp i have recorded was 50c

Amazon seems to have the Noctua NH-L9i, I was also looking at the NH-L12s. Any thoughts between the two? The L9i is $10 less so price difference is not an issue.
