[SOLVED] CPU cooler socket compatibility

Hi, I'm thinking of upgrading my system with a new cpu and mobo, currently have a p8z77-v lx2 and i5 3570k with a corsair h70 hydro core cooler.
Would that cooler be compatible with z490-f and i5 10600k
and if it would, would it be efficient or should I just get a new one?

Your cooler will fit, same bracket, same mount, same everything.

It's a 180w, double thick 120mm rad, so it'll be fine for the 10600k as long as you stick to a locked core turbo OC. If you plan on higher OC levels, you'll need something bigger.

The 3570k is 74w stock, but that'll reach @ 150w at 4.8GHz. The 10600k is 125w, but uses a smaller process than the 3rd gen, runs cooler. A locked core OC won't raise the wattage output all that much, so you'll be right around the same outputs.

LGA 1200 and LGA1151x all use the same socket dimensions, so that area's fine.

Hmm alright, will the i5 10600k produce that much more heat than my i5 3570k (currently running at 4.8ghz 1.250v? Because im maxing out at 78-82c in IBT and P95 with a pretty solid overclock

So my best bet is to actually just try my current cpu cooler on the new cpu and if results aren't good enough I'd just buy a new cpu cooler. im just trying to save money when upgrading my pc
