Hello, I just buiilt a New Gaming Pc, I7 9700k With a Z390 Series Motherboard, EVGA 1070FTW GPU. Anyways I mounted the 212 Evo on top of the CPU. The CPU Seems to heat up pretty hot when loading up NEW AAA Games. Like Assassins Creed Odyssey. The Temps rise up around 90C And then Lower back dwon to around mid 70s . Im Wondering if this is normal for the I7 9700k, I heard that that 9th gen CPu's do run hot. I think i may need a Better cooler.

Solution
The 212 EVO isn't the best cooler but it should be achieving much better temps. Repaste it, check if it is properly seated, and how is configured the fan curve in the BIOS. The best is keeping the processor under 80ºC so I would set the curve to reach 100% fan speed at 80ºC but it will be noisy.

I think on the bottom of coolers there is plastic that is supposed to be removed before attaching to CPU. You would be surprised how easily and often this is missed.

Okay, So i went and Bought some New Thermal Paste. Re seated the CPU. Cleaned off the Cpu Completly, Along with the Cooler. Im getting way better temp. under 100% Load im hanging around 64C wayyyyy better. I think the CPU Cooler was not Seated Properly. Thanks for the Pointers!
