Hi,

I know this topic has been discussed earlier, but I may elaborate my story more in detail here.
My Config first :-
Mobo :- Asus Rog Zenith Extreme
Processor :- AMD Ryzen threadripper 1920X
Liquid Cooler : Corsair H80i V2
Ram :- Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000GHz 32GB
Graphic Card :- Nvidia GTX 1080 ASUS
PSU :- Corsair RM1000X
SSD :- Corsair 960Gb
HArddisk :- Seagate IRONWOLF PRO 4TB

NOW, the Major issue is that when I am trying to start to PC, my screen says "CPU fan error" and it asked me to go into the setup, pressing F1 key. I checked the cable twice/thrice..N.no. of times, but resulting the same.

Later, I entered into the BIOS setup and tried the CPU Fan setting to ignore and all types and simultaneously the wire settings on the board as well, BUT again, NOW IGNORING THE CPU FAN MY BIOS HAS MOVED FORWARD AND STARTED THE WINDOWS BUT LATER OFCOURSE PROCESSOR GETTING HIGH IN TEMPERATURE, MY PC GOT SHUT DOWN.

Also, I have got the error of "CPU FAN SPEED", while booting and again asking the same to go into the setup.

NOW, Seriously thanx alot to the Asus people for making this intelligent board for shutting down the PC in time and not Blasting it..lolz. Else earlier as they used to get fused.

I want your guidance upon this matter, as I am little confused to tell me is the liquid cooler which is damaged or is it the motherboard or any other part? I am little confused with plugging in the cooler's wire into the MOBO's pin's. PLease guide. It's little confusing.

Now i have images clicked of my motherboard, how can I email them?

Solution
Are you using the USB flash drive delivered with the motherboard? This one comes with utilities and drivers from ASUS. Don´t use this one.

Use another USB flash drive, format it with fat32 file system
download this file:
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socketTR4/ROG_ZENITH_EXTREME/ROG-ZENITH-EXTREME-ASUS-0902.zip
unzip it
copy the unzipped BIOS file, which normally should be: ROG-ZENITH-EXTREME-ASUS-0902.CAP

Rename the ROG-ZENITH-EXTREME-ASUS-0902.CAP to ZE.CAP

try flashing:
shutdown
plug in the drive into the flashback port of your motherboard
press the flashback button for 3seconds, till the led is blinking 3times
wait
flashing is completed if the LED is off, normally should reboot automatically

Install video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wruCEYfCFno

reset the BIOS by jumper (ClrCMOS, have a look in your motherboard´s manual)

Which BIOS version is on the board?
The latest fixed fan calibration
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-ZENITH-EXTREME/HelpDesk_BIOS/

Take some pictures of the connections you did for the H80i.
The cable from the "pump" has to be connected to the CPU_FAN header of the motherboard, it´s a 3Pin. The two connectors of the fans to the splitter cable of the "pump".

I Don't know which Bios version it has, I didn't see. Besides, I had installed the cooler as you are already guiding above. The two connectors, Fan wires & all, everything. But, even though after all that, same issue... :(

BIOS UPdate is not possible, until system runs properly.

Oh ye! I tried that as well. It did not work. Besides, I have installed Windows 10 64bit and the USB that comes along with the motherboard does not works with this windows as well.

Unzipping & Renaming is only possible once I see anything in that USB. As i said, I am not able to see anything in that USB in windows 10 64bit. Besides, I tried updating Bios through USB flash drive, in switch off mode without windows as well, It took around more than an Hour and then I lost my patience, I switched ON & then Switched off the system.

I know, the CPU_FAN & CPU_OPT are different. That I have taken care. Also, I personally feel, I saw in Bios setting, there is no information available about CPU FAN Speed, it shows "N/A", SO I m guessing probably the Liquid Cooler is not working even though I have plugged in all the cables as guided by there installation guide lines & as you have guided above.

You may be right about the cause. Certainly you have THREE error messages that all agree:
1. The BIOS says there is no CPU_FAN speed;
2. The POST process says there is a CPU fan error;
3. Your system DOES actually overheat and shut down to prevent damage.

Clearly the CPU cooler is NOT doing its job, and the cause appears to be the failure of the cooler. Now, note something important. With that Corsair system install properly (as you say it is), the thing that the BIOS calls the CPU Fan Speed is NOT. It really is the speed of the PUMP of the H80i V2 system. The speed of the fans on the radiator actually is NOT fed to the mobo. It is only available through use of the Corsair Link software, which communicates with the pump unit through its USB cable. But you say the USB ports in your system are not working (that's odd!) so I presume you are not using that software. So, even though the fans on the radiator are working if you see them running, you cannot see their speeds anywhere. And the "CPU Fan Speed" from the BIOS is really the PUMP speed - and that is reading ZERO! That certainly would explain the overheating after running for a little while. I believe your H80i V2 pump unit has failed and needs replacement.

Thank you so much for the conclusion. This is exactly what has happened, what you have concluded above. Now I m more confirmed about it.

Sorry for being so persistent, but helping without seeing what you plugged in and where is very difficult and I wanted to be sure everything is connected correctly. Please post some pictures via a free image hoster, maybe we can see something you were missing or we can be sure, everything should work and something is broken.

So you did unzip and rename the BIOS file? You will have to do this on another PC/notebook if it doesn´t work within your windows.

Did the Flashback LED blink 3 times and was then on the whole time?

Do all USB ports not work? How do you use keyboard and mouse? Try another USB flash drive.
Did you fresh install windows with this system?

HI, Ok so renaming the BIOS...Hm.. When I connected the BIOS USB Flash drive to another system, I encounter this weird issue. two drives come up...1st removable, which has nothing in it "EMPTY" & 2nd is CD Drive which has "MB Support Files" (All Set up files). Now, I m not sure if these are already unzipped or zipped, bcoz, there's already a file exists with the name ZE.CAP (type-- CAP FILE). Now, is that what you were asking to rename?

I am ALL CONFUSED...:p

OR...Should I copy all these SETUP files to another USB Drive formatted to FAT32 and use that USB drive as for updating BIOS? WHAT SAY?

Swap connectors. Install the pump on CPU_OPT, it's a dedicated 12v header. Install the fan splitter on CPU_FAN header and try again, boot to bios. If there is an issue with the pump, bios temps will be high, if it's a motherboard/bios issue, the fans won't be spinning correctly.

BTW, I GOT the LIQUID COOLER replaced today itself. I went to the service center, they had it in stock, so they just replaced it...:D..hehe.
