CPU Core Usage

Hello everyone,

I just installed a new i7-4770k with a new H100i Corsair watercooler on top of it and I have been monitoring my temps/usage over the past day or two.

My temps seems to be normal, around 29-35 at idle and around 40-50 at load. However, even though my temps looks normal one of my CPU cores seems to be running at a constant usage % of 30-60%.

My other 3 cores are below 10% at idle unless I boot a game or application, but this one core just hovers between 30%-60%. I'm just wondering if this is normal or is there something I can do to troubleshoot/fix this.

Windows might be doing stuff in the background. Use Process Explorer to look at what you have running on your PC if you want to find out - Process Explorer shows many things Task Manager might not.

I believe it may be the Intel RST. I've uninstalled it and so far all my cores seem to be acting in the same manor (mostly below 10%).

I've read that Intel RST can help speed up boot times and transfers but I decided to uninstall it because I don't really want it using 60% of a core.
