I stole my brothers cpu (my brother no longer uses it) its a ryzen 7 2700x (also it hasnt been touched for like months) and it didt work when i turned it on and took out the cpu to see if it fried or somthing and i dont see anything and i also dont have any thermal paste rn. so is there a way i can tell if it works cuz from what ive seen online putting on a cpu without thermal paste is rly bad?

ryzen 7 2700x
stock cooler
b350m artic mother board

It's bad to do it without paste as it can overheat and shut down fast but should be good enough just to turn it on for a moment or two and see if you get any picture in BIOS during post.

I still dont recommend doing it though. If you must, power off the system as soon ass you get past the BIOS to prevent damage.

Also, is that motherboard updated to support Ryzen 2nd Generation? I assume this is the board that your brother used the CPU with earlier, but need to make sure. A B350 is not guaranteed to work with a second generation chip.

i never swapped the cpu its been the same cpu inside. also i got it working and turns out its not dead. and surprisingly its able to run at around 30c i havent seen it go above 50c yet and my gpu is hotter then the cpu
