Question CPU Drastically Underperforming

I’ve got a fresh build with an i5 9600k running at default speeds. I try to play Getting Over It because it’s the only application I have access to at the moment, but when I start it up it runs at like 2 FPS and crashes on the menu screen! If I try to quickly switch over to task manager, and it shows that the CPU usage is up to around 90%! I’ve got a GTX 1660 ti, 550 watt psu, Asus Prime Z390a board, and Corsair H60 AIO. I’ve tried to find others with a similar problem, but it seems I’m just doing something wrong. Please give suggestions, as I am very worried of damaging my CPU just by browsing the web later on!

I didn’t give all specs because I’m fairly sure this is just related to the CPU or GPU
