CPU Extremely Hot

I just downloaded CPU-Z and SpeedFan, and I noticed my CPU was running and probably has been running at 70-85 degrees celsius since I got it.

I have a Gateway 840GM with no additional modifications, but I plan on getting a new graphics card, 2 gigs of RAM, and a new PSU, but it seems like I need to take care of the heat problem first.

Any advice?

The Gateway looks like BTX or some other form (similiar to that of a Dell's). So you can't install a different CPU cooler. What CPU is it?

It says the CPU is an Intel Pentium D 3.00GHz. Also the motherboard is an Intel 945G.

Pentium D's ran real hot, you might want to put a desk fan beside as a temporary solution.

So should I just open up the case and have a fan blowing into it?

And will this massive amount of heat fry a graphics card or any extra RAM?

Based on the interior photo Gateway provides for your PC, I'd think RAM should be fine. You could probably be okay with a GPU too. The CPU is encased in it's own shroud, so it shouldn't give off a whole to much heat to other components (in theory).

The question will be, whether there is enough incoming (and outgoing) airflow to keep the video card cool.

So the CPU is encased in the black/teal colored area? I didn't know that.
I'm also worried about a graphics card not fitting, because it seems as if the CPU air duct takes up alot of room.
