New build shuts off one day and cpu led light powers on.
These are currently my specs:
Mobo- MSI pro z690-a ddr4
CPU- Intel 1-7 13700kf
GPU- RTX 3060ti
PSU- Corsair RM850x
RAM- Corsair vengeance pro 2x16
CPU Fans- deep cool ak620
Storage- Samsung 980 pro 2tb
My pc is relatively new, about two to three months old and every part came new and unused. It worked perfectly fine for the first month and I never ran any demanding games or software.
Then I would start games like ow and Val and it would stutter on the boot up. I had thought it was due to the display mode and the videos settings so I changed them and it was fine, about a week later it would happen again.
I had decided it was the games fault as I always had issues with them then one day while playing my pc shuts off, I thought it was my power but trying to turn it on again it showed the red cpu led.
I’ve never had a problem with the cpu and even checked to see if there were any damaged pins or if the thermal paste was applied correctly. There is nothing wrong with it and I placed it back but the light was still on, I reseated the ram sticks but even that didn’t help. I also took out the gpu to see if that was the problem but it wasn’t. I’ve checked all the cables even unplugging to check for damages but they’re all completely fine.
The only thing I’ve yet to check is resetting the cmos battery (this I’m a bit afraid to do because my brother will kill me if I mess up and I’ve yet to find the cmos reset button) however I’ve taken it out and placed it back in but the light still shows.
Some things I’ve found is that the pc will function perfectly fine (cpu led still on) without the cpu inserted but once it goes back in, it will start the off and on cycle. I haven’t been able to take it somewhere due to traveling and I just got back. I’ve tried reseating items again today but still nothing.
I’m concerned it might be a dead cpu or mobo socket issue because I’ve heard warranties might consider a dead cpu to be a physical damage, I’ve also updated the bios just in case it was a software issue but the light still shows.
Any answer helps while I wait to get paid to take it in.
