CPU FAN ERROR - Asus z87 Plus / Hyper 212 Plus

Hi, all i wonder if someone could help with an error message i keep getting upon boot of my newley built PC.

I only built it this week and now and again when i boot up the PC i get CPU FAN ERROR! and then have to go onto the bios and boot from my HD.

when i look in the BIOS the fam is running at about 600 and red
when i go to the fan control (the asus one) when booted in w7 the fan shows its spinning again at about 600 and i can make it run @ max my tweaking the settings.

Does anyone know how i can stop this message appearing or what the issue may be.

if needed i can supply screen grabs when back at home.

You should be able to go into the BIOS and turn this feature off. Should be near where it tells you what the fanspeed is. Description should be 'Show Error message when fan is faulty' something like that i can't remember, can't remember the actual setting but it'll be in the bios.

Is your fan a 4pin connector? If it isn't it means that the motherboard has no way of controlling the speed and can only monitor it! But seeing as you said you can change the speed it must be a four, which means you should be able to go into the BIOS and turn on automatic fan speed for the CPU.

thank you ill have a look when i get home, i did not want to fiddle with the bio's yet without some advice, cant remember the PIN's but it its = to the pin holes on the MB

Should all be okay, just take a big browse of your bios and of course if you didn't find it and are worried just don't save changes, or just turn your pc off it ont hurt anything and will discard any possible changes you did make! Good luck bro

Did you make sure to install it on the correct pins?n You should not have to make any changes in BIOS for the CPU fan, you should double check installation instead.

Why did i not think about proper instillation.. Doh!!

This seems to be BIOS problem. If a certain video card installed, CPU Fan will not run. On my case, I have GT210 and GT620, when I installed these, Fan won't run. Without it, Fan starts up fine.

I got this cpu fan error also when I finished building my son's pc last month with a ASUS Z87 pro MB and i5 4670K cpu. I read the MB manual and found out that there is very small lever like switch on the cpu fan socket(4 pins) that serves as an indicator if the cpu fan is fully or snugly fitted in. All I did was push the cpu fan connector which is in my case I used the master cooler t4 heatsink cpu cooler firmly to the cpu fan socket on the MB and it was solve. No more cpu fan error during boot up.
