Cpu fan error! Do i need to redo thermal paste?

Hardware:
ASUS Z87-PRO
Freezer 7 Pro rev.2 Fan
Intel Core i5 processor
E2 cooler master thermal paste

Info:
CPU temp 41 degrees celsius
MB temp 22 degrees celsius
Fan speed: erratic

I reassembled my computer after moving country and am receiving a CPU fan error. On the Bios screen I am seeing the cpu fan going mainly around 1000 rpm however this occasionally spikes down to 300/200. I believe i have connected the fan cable in the correct mb slot. I did alotb of difficulty reapplying the thermal paste because the fan was so difficult attaching it to the motherboard (alot of twisting and reapplying) so there is a strong chance the thermal paste was disturbed.

My question is:
Is there something else possibly causing this problem?
If it is the thermal paste can i still continue to use my computer for the next 2/3 weeks without any damage to the cpu? I will be using graphic design softwares and some 3d modelling tools

Double check that the fan is plugged into a CPU Fan header. Read your mobo manual.

I believe I have the correct connection because there is a "CPU Fan" label beside the slot I'm connected to and the only other slot possible has "CPU opt" written beside it.

Yeah some motherboards see a low RPM as a fault, when its actually normal for some cpu coolers. You can usually disable the error or lower the rpm threshold in the bios. I have seen the same thing before on Asus motherboards.

Keep an eye on temps when you are in windows just to be sure, but it should be fine.

I have "ignore" enabled on CPU fan speed and quality control for all fans but it still keeps loading into Bios. Do you know what could be causing this?

What do you mean it keeps loading into the bios? Do you get an error?

No error, just when i start up it goes straight to bios.

I try to start windows but nothing happens. I select boot ssd drive and it just returns to the bios screen after a few seconds of everything going black

Disconnect the OS drive and see if your pc posts.

If so, then your Windows is corrupt. Then do a re-start into Safe Mode - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode#1TC=windows-7 - and d a Computer Repair.

If not, post the post/beep code and meaning.
