CPU Fan Error

I just finished my first build and I'm having some issues with the fans. I have an asus z170 deluxe mobo in an NZXT h440 case and am using an NZXT kraken x61 cooler. The fans in the case all run to a PWM fan hub and then a PWM cable connects the fan hub to the mobo. The tower manual says to connect it to CPU_FAN or CPU_OPT, but I keep getting a CPU fan error when I boot regardless of which I connect it to. I've tried connecting it to the cha fan instead but still get the same error. I grabbed my roommates fan and plugged that into the CPU fan and connected the fan hub to the CPU_OPT and that got rid of the error but it didn't recognize that anything was hooked up to the CPU_OPT in the bios. It seems that the fan hub on the h440 is confusing the mobo or something and unfortunately I can't keep my roommates fan forever. I'm also not sure if the x61 is the issue either as I've read about other people getting the same error with it.

Any ideas on the how to hook these fans up and get rid of the error? Any help is greatly appreciated

Solution
Hook it to one, boot into the ADVANCED BIOS and go to your fan settings. Disable whichever one you aren't using check the settings on that particular header to make sure there isn't a toggle for the error message, save and reboot. It should eliminate the error message on startup.

I had the same problem because my H100i doesn't use the CPU fan header.

ASUS expects an RPM reading for sure on the CPU_FAN header and perhaps the CPU_OPT as well. This happened to me with my fan-less build and I thought I was screwed. BUT there is a BIOS setting, On my BIOS version, it's under Temp Monitor, I have my CPU FAN SPEED LOW LIMIT set to IGNORE.

It worked, thanks! Also in case anyone else has this problem, I had to use the CPU_OPT and disable the CPU_FAN. Tried it the other way around with multiple settings and wasn't successful. I tried adjusting just the low limit speeds to ignore as well but that didn't work. Finally got it to work though by plugging into the CPU_OPT header and disabling the CPU fan monitor in bios. Didn't have to adjust the fan speed lower limit or anything else.

I'm pretty sure that's the exact same thing I had to do as well. I'm using an H100i on an Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark S.
