Hello,

Today when I switch on my monitor it says no display found so I restarted my PC and during startup it display "CPU fan error"

Screenshot of temperature View: https://i.imgur.com/7bq1HlH.png

Video of all fans in my PC
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jmTcPoSCG0

  1. Is my temperature ok?
  2. If you compare the white fans spinning does it seems like the back most fan is spinning slower? Do I need to replace it? (back most fan sticker in the middle seems to be rotating spinning slower)
  3. Front fan looks still working fine, the fan behind my hard disk has stopped (the only white fan that stop moving in the video, this fan draw air in from front and towards the back), is it important to change it? Can I just remove it if I do not have any new fan to replace now?
  4. Does CPU fan error mean any fan in the case has error or only CPU fan has error? Does my CPU fan has error? Looks like CPU fan is still spinning fine.
My case is cooler master cm 690 ii advanced

Thanks

A cpu fan error usually means that it on start up or at idle not reaches a high enough rpm, can look in the bios and look for settings to set the speed it checks for to be lowered. It might now for instance look for a minimum of 600rpm where your cpu fan at idle/start up does 500rpm, so it needs to be set to 500rpm in the bios.

Your temperatures look fine btw. If anything would that system memory usage bother me more, but if all is working fluidly not an issue.

I removed the 2 non moving Arctic F12 fans and replaced the rear fan with a Arctic F12 PWM. CPU Fan error disappeared. Problem solved. Thanks.

Q1. Are PWM fan suppose to be noisier than non PWM fan?

Q2. Changed from Arctic F12 to Arctic F12 PWM, Arctic F12 PWM is nosier. Anything wrong?

Q3. By default is Arctic F12 PWM spinning at its fastest speed? By default is Arctic F12 PWM same speed as Arctic F12?

I did not change any settings anywhere, just replace the fan and use. Do not know anything about PWM and no interest in it, bought PWM version because non PWM is out of stock.

I see both fan specs are Noise Level 0.3 Sone

Might be that in the bios the fan header where the Arctic PWM is connected to is set to DC mode, need to get into the bios to check and change that.

Strange that the back fan was the problem, i think you need to look carefully to what fan is connected to which fan header. Your cpu cooler fan should be connected to the cpu fan header.

Can take the back fan off again and replace the cpu cooler fan with it. See how it works out.Use the current cpu fan as back fan. So swap those two and make sure to swap fan headers as well.

As said you can also go into the bios and look at the fan speed it's looking for for the cpu cooler fan and lower that.

That should only show with a cpu fan error, did you at all go into the bios and check? Changed fans as i asked?

Are you even on the latest bios? See it's an old system, but some people never look at it.What bios version you have can be looked at via "dxdiag ". What motherboard as well.

I notice when the problem happened and I started this thread, CPU_FAN is connected to rear fan and CHA_FAN1 is connected to cpu processor fan. (photo View: https://i.imgur.com/ClQydej.png
)

The rear fan does not move during startup, the rear fan only moves when inside windows.

I replaced the rear fan and no more error now. So I think [CPU Fan Error!] is telling me the fan connected to CPU_FAN (connector label printed on motherboard) is not moving.

cpu processor fan is spinning fine and connected to CHA_FAN1 (connector label printed on motherboard)
