hi
whilst having a torid time with some O/Cing i was forced to restore default bios options and was shocked to hear from the voice post that my CPU fan failed and indeed the bios meter showed 0rpm.
but the fan spins and asus-probe/mbm seem to pick it up okay.

i know that it used to read my stock fan speed okay; this is a falconrock 2 with a 2300 rpm fan - could it be that for some reason it cant read that low? or can it be anything more sinister?

i assume it was always the case with this hsf but didnt notice as voice-post was off.

any ideas?
oh woops board = A7N8X deluxe rev2.0 bios 1004

There are several reasons you could have that warning. Fan speed too low might cause it, but you said BIOS reports 0, not 2300.

You might have the fan plugged into the "wrong" header, your board could have a PSU and case fan header near the CPU, as well as the CPU fan header.

Otherwise, your fan might not have a working signal wire.

but if the wrong header was the case or the sensor not working why would asus probe and MBM get readings okay from it?

Do you have Q-Fan on? If you do turn it off and see what happen. Because A7N8X BIOS cannot detect the fan speed when it is below/around 2000rpm. A good example is that my Antec PSU exhaust fan is running at 1800rpm, and BIOS reading is 0rpm, but MBM5, AsusProbe read it fine. A low rpm fan will sometime cause trouble, some mobo even refuse to POST when no CPU fan speed is detected by BIOS.

If I agree with you... will you shut up?

Perhaps it is a speed issue then.

yeah it must be. like TKH also said with his psu fan speed not being detected in bios.
oh well i have turned off the vocal post so i will live!

I have exactly the same mobo and cooler and i also have the same problem, my little brother has same cooler but a rev 1.06 mobo and he has no post error. So i guess its a thing between A7N8X/dlx 2.0 and falconrock 2.

No, its not just ur fans. It does it with my thermaltake case fan 2 taht i have running on my cpu. i just gave up on the post report. sometimes the post report would say everything is fine, and other times it would freak out on me. So i turned it off and now everything is fine and dandy.
