Long story short I recently had to RMA an ASUS SABERTOOTH X99. Shockingly, ASUS honored the RMA but (not shockingly) could not replace it with the exact model. Thus, I find myself with an ASUS Maximus V FORMULA LGA 1155 Intel Z77 (perfectly compatible with all specs of the RMA'd MB).
This is an issue I've never had to deal with before. None of my ATX cpu fans fit this ATX board. Not the fan that was on the Sabertooth X99, nor any of my other ATX cpu fans. For some reason, the holes for the cpu fan on the Maximus V Formula MB are significantly wider, rendering all my ATX (AMD or Intel) cpu fans worthless (and thus, the MB worthless).
Is there is special fitting piece needed for this board to accept standard ATX cpu fans (in this case, Intel i7), or am have I just lost my touch with building computers? I mean, it has been a few years since I've had to build one from scratch, but I've never had to worry about an ATX cpu fan fitting pre-drilled holes on an ATX MB.
Thanks in advance for your advice!
